London IoTs Take Over the Science Museum

Last week (18th - 20th June) saw Institutes of Technology (IoTs) take over Technicians: the David Sainsbury Gallery, an interactive careers gallery aimed at young people, at the Science Museum. Our three London IoTs – East London, London City, and West London Institute of Technology – collaborated to bring real technicians to the gallery and give hundreds  of local key stage 3 and 4 pupils an insight into their work and the importance of technicians now and in the future.

Celebrating the success of partnerships

Yesterday (4 July), over 130 representatives from across the National Network of Institutes of Technology, including senior representatives from industry partners, principals of colleges and vice-chancellors of universities, and representatives from the Department for Education attended the inaugural Institutes of Technology Conference hosted by Yewande Akinola.

The Institutes of Technology Network is playing a key role in delivering the future skills needed for the UK manufacturing and engineering workforce. By identifying the future skills needed in the manufacturing and engineering workforce and building training systems for them to be met, the Emerging Skills Project is enabling UK businesses to better exploit emerging technologies and remain competitive.
